Design Network

Click on the Add Item button in the Networks pane on the left to create a new Haulage Network and name it accordingly.

Load in the Project ML - Mining Year 3 (MY3) Topography from the Assets pane. This wireframe will display a partially mined & dumped topography to facilitate digitizing of the haulage network.

Exercise

Begin digitizing the haulage network. Take note that the ROM pad doesn't have a designed ramp that connects the lower floor to the surrounding topography and draw suitable ramp connections to the surrounding area.

There is no set order for digitizing the haulage network but the following order is recommended:

  • Place Terminals for Crushers & Stockpile Reclaim/Build Nodes.
  • Digitize roads from ROM Stockpile Reclaim Nodes to Crusher Pockets.
  • Digitize roads from ROM Stockpile Build Nodes to the road or topography surrounding the ROM.
  • Digitize roads from main floor of the ROM to the surrounding road or topography.
  • Construct roads to connect the ROM to the pit and dump entrances.
  • Connect nodes from the pit/dump entrances to into the pit/dump or Source/Destination Terminals.
  • Create new roads and entrances and Terminals to Go Lines and Fuel Bowsers.
tip

Remember to use the D key to begin drawing road lines. Move points along a string using the F key. Add/Move/Rotate Terminals in the toolbar icons above.

The logic for this order is to start with drawing a network on the most distinguished features of the topography. The road network around ROM and crusher is typically small, contained and an easy target. However, it is equally valid to start with digitizing pit/dump ramps.

The aim is to connect the haulage network enough until a pit/dump/stockpile has reached the topographic surface. Once you have digitized the parts of a network from lifts/benches to the topographic surface, you can begin connecting roads from the pits/dumps/stockpiles to each other.

tip

To view an example of a pre-configured haulage network, click on the Import button in the top toolbar above the Viewport and import the Haulage Network from the Project ML Setup files.

Next Steps

Once the haulage network has been completely digitised with no errors, click on the Simulation Tab to configure scenarios, inputs and run simulations.
